About Caleb Baker

In my work as a counselor and in my personal life, I aim for authenticity. I want to make sure I am meeting my clients where they are at while still pushing them to help them progress in their lives.

My Story

I was born and raised in Amarillo, TX, and my counseling journey began when I first attended therapy at the age of 9 to address anxiety issues. As I navigated my teenage years in the Texas Panhandle, I sought therapy again for support in embracing my identity as a gay man. Although I didn’t envision myself becoming a therapist when I was younger, I now see how the compassion and guidance I received from my therapists ignited my passion for helping others.

In 2013, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from WTAMU and later on spent six years teaching high school English. During this time, I pursued my Master’s in Education- Counseling, which I completed in 2018. In 2020, I decided to leave teaching and fully dedicate myself to the field of counseling. I gained valuable experience working for Potter, Randall, and Armstrong Adult Probation, while completing the 3,000 hours required for my licensing until I opened my private practice in 2022.

Throughout my journey toward licensure, I trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) at The EMDR Institute. This training, combined with my experience in the probation system, deepened my understanding of trauma and its wide-ranging impacts on cognition, behavior, emotions, and physical sensations. I am committed to ongoing professional development and have pursued extensive training beyond my EMDR foundational trainings to continuously better serve my clients and help them grow.
